Biography
George Butler is an experienced Principal Solicitor with over 20 years of post-qualification practice, admitted in 1999. He now works predominantly in the area of Probate, Estate Administration, and Private Client Law.
He is also a trained estate mediator and advises on inheritance and trust disputes.
He regularly writes articles and delivers seminars on issues relating to probate practice, estate planning, and contentious wills and trusts, and also provides training for legal professionals and financial advisors.
He specialises in complex Probate and Estate Administration matters, including high-value estates, cross-border succession issues, contested wills, claims under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975, and Court of Protection matters involving property and financial affairs.
His practice regularly includes disputes involving capacity concerns, undue influence, executor disputes, trust litigation, and complex asset tracing across multiple jurisdictions. He is regularly instructed by executors, beneficiaries, trustees, and families at all stages of estate administration and probate litigation.
He has a particular interest in the intersection between mental capacity and estate planning, and has developed and delivered specialist training in this area for legal and financial professionals.
